Has anyone in Doha had any luck finding someone
to sign a "Certified as a True Copy of the Original"
copy of a passport ?

It appears there is no Notary industry at all here,
and the few law offices I have called will not do it.

Uk Embassy consulate do it for their nationals. There is a charge, nice seal stamped on a bit of parchment...

I guess it is a normal Consular activity :p

It has to be done through the FCO in UK. The procedure is on their website and you have to send the documents recorded to their address in Milton Keynes. Best get birth certs the and marriage certs donee same time (there is a charge per copy). Certainly saves a great deal of problems when you get out there. If they can find a way to fcuk you about they will!

IBQ Bank did mine recently, as I used my passport to open an account with them. Also on the British Embassy Qatar website, there is a list of local Lawyers/Solicitors that will do it, however for a fee.
