Ok, as suggested by Saab, how about a nice relaxed Spring fly-in?

No formalities, and no SkyGod bull****. Just a group of flyers, some burgers, and some banter.

So, how about Saturday April 19th, at Leicester, any time from 1100 local onwards?

Please register interest here, and I'll update this first post accordingly.

Please state name, aircraft reg and any passengers, as this will help with forewarning the catering dept.

Whilst I accept the weather will probably be shoite, at least we will have tried. If the weather bombs out, we can keep trying until it's scorchio. :)

I spoke with the airfield manager who has asked me request that people might need to be prepared to be patient on that day with food orders, as they have one of the catering staff on holiday on the 19th. I have said that is understood and that I'd mention it here.

Also, any special requests (camping etc) can be answered by calling the airfield direct beforehand.

Please remember to get your own PPR on the day. For insurance purposes, this is not an official fly-in and I am not an 'organiser'. There is no obligation to attend, and the 'go' or 'not go' decision rests solely with the PIC. :ok:

Happy memories of LE from 1971 when as a teenager I did casual work for the club on Saturdays for 6 shillings (30p) an hour to my flying account which funded most of the first 10 hours of my PPL including several solo flights. The hourly rate then was somewhere around £8 and hour.

Now an ex PPL, ex glider pilot living in South Cheshire, if anyone flying from Barton or Sleap or anywhere in between has a spare seat, I would be delighted to cost share. Phil B.

Well, unless my approval arrives tomorrow from the LAA for my propeller change I did a couple of weeks ago, I'll be uninsured and a no-shower I'm afraid. :bored:

Did you get your approval Mono?

I'm afraid I'll have to duck out now because of car troubles! It was so much more convenient when I could walk to my aeroplane in five minutes :bored:

I'll be there, bringing a Flt Eng with me but don't worry, he has many words in his vocabulary now besides 'galley' and is potty trained. Just don't mention kippers.

Coming from Elstree, the weather forecast has been deteriorating all week. Now a possibility of lights showers and 7,000m viz around early afternoon. Enough to put me off I'm afraid. We'll see how it looks tomorrow.

I'm sorry to have missed it.

It's the first PPrune private flying flyin that I've missed since I started flying in 2001. Not that that's saying much! There have only been two others in that period!

Our aircraft is in for its annual inspection unfortunately.

A great day out for me enjoying my first power flight for 30 years. Good to see Leicester again where I did my first solo and on the way back we called in at Sleap where I did most of my PPL flying. Special thanks to AJMortimer for inviting me on this trip, for carrying it out in a calm, safe and professional manner, and for being such pleasant company.:ok::)
