Question?. .Has anyone had and dealings with South Africa Flight Training Centre in Midrand, just outside Jo'Burg?. .I'm considering doing some training down there with my hard earned redundancy money, but i'd really like to hear from others who have trained there, and get some opinions about quality of training, helpfulness of staff etc.

If you have anything that you'd like to say, please do, i'd really appriciate your opinions

FTC is a business.. .It is a nice school, nice aeroplanes, good area to train in, close to controlled airspace(very) and good countryside all round.. .Beware of the "Self-Appointed Heroes", of which there are so many in aviation.............Remember, you are paying the money to them, they are not doing you a favour of ANY kind.If you have problems with an aspect of training, the instructor is failing, not you! (unless you are dim that is). .Above all else, remember that if ever you feel you are not having fun flying, becouse of another persons attitude/approach etc, stop the bus right there !! Aggressivly if need be ! i.e. tell the instuctor to "wind his/her @#%$&#% neck in" !!

WO. .I did my NR and a type conversion with them, and found them to be reasonably professional. As with any organisation, it is the people who make the difference, and those who I had contact with were decent guys who were willing to help. They lost one or two brownie points due to confusion with bookings, but they do get quite busy, so I suppose some gremlins are bound to creep in.

I will use them again in the future. General rating of 8/10.

Enjoy. .

WO,

Did my PPL there. Good instructors and facilities, some confusion with bookings etc. My advice would be to give yourself plenty of time to complete your course.

What do you mean by plenty of time? I'm planning on 4 weeks, would you suggest that was ok?
