Well done to the  flying a red and blue paraglider (or similar) at F130 near WAREN (30 NM SE YMML) this afternoon. You scared the crap out of a 737 crew

If anyone has any idea who this idiot was please do something about it. They were in CTA on an air route flying at a level that RPT jet traffic was likely to be descending through.

I understand the crew filed paperwork. Unfortunately POLAIR failed to find the aircraft responsible.

Ah yes, This is the incident that I was referring to in Jack's other airprox thread last night.

I came up trumps trying to think of an aircraft it could have been based on what I have seen flying around of late... Nothing matched that description and certainly not at those altitudes.

Do you know to which area Polair chased it to?

Now, if we just mandate ADSB for paragliders...

You've got to admire the guys determination to get to F130. But I agree it is on a trend line of lack of discipline. But surely if CASA tackled this with the same diligence it chases some misdemeanour's it wouldn't have been at all hard to have had a waiting police car when the guy got down. I assume that a paraglider takes a while to get back down. The area around Warren is largely suburban now. I can imagine the take-off points would be relatively limited. My first guess would be one of the 2 or 3 ultralight strips near Upper Beaconsfield.

I'm led to believe it was a fixed wing type, the sort of pop-out engine type or similar. Presumably just above the fl125 upper of class E.

Sorry, don't know where Polair went looking. They weren't just above E but were in C by 4500 feet, and rather close to the 30NM TMA boundary.

le Pingouin; Like (I hope) all of us, I pray that this clown is tracked down and suitably dealt with, but let us all hope that he received an equal or even greater fright!

Possibly resulting in requiring a change of underwear!

BTW, any idea just how close he was?

Pinky these types of clowns don't get a fright, they get a thrill out of this garbage. Hopefully they can't help themselves and boast to their mates!

The Richard Cranium will probably post the encounter on utube and self incriminate.

There is one guy in an RA aircraft who did some lovely steep turns over Avenel very recently. All at very low level. It was beautifully captured in HD on video. Apparently the registration mark is clearly visible. Several very experienced pilots witnessed it.

As a result, Boeing has offered airlines the 737-800A (armed) version.

and the 737-800C variant...that will make them think twice..

"UF" wouldn't you just luv to have retaliatory action available?:-)
I mean shoot that f*cker, twice:E (Hunt 4 red October):)

There will always be the thrill seeker element in any industry, common sense & rules don't feature in their way of thinking. I mean take a look at laser lights/beams shone at A/C, do these individuals really understand the ramifications? Hardly & neither do the so called pilots who are literally in a world of their own wince airborne.
There will always be the ratbag element of any field of pleasure/en-devour, live with it & do ye best to handle it when it happens, you will never eradicate it not whilst we have freedom, a democratic society & a very poor judicial system in this country.

Sadly, you're probably right.:(

Hopefully they can't help themselves and boast to their mates!

As long as at least one of their mates has the sense to report it!

The Richard Cranium will probably post the encounter on youtube and self incriminate. ]

We can but hope.

I had a similar experience nearly cleaning up a para glider between Tyabb and Tooraddin about 6 months back. This clown was in CTA as well and I could see the blokes face. We were on descent into MB and reported the matter to the services but nothing every came out. We were probably only 20 meters away from each other.

I do believe I have met the bloke that we nearly collided with and said that he regularly travels along this route with no radio.

What a muppet
