Man injured in helicopter crash at Mission Beach in far north Queensland - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-02-20/man-injured-in-helicopter-crash-at-mission-beach/5271370)

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) says the Bell 206-B helicopter was spraying when it clipped a tree and hit the ground at a banana farm in Mission Beach shortly after 6:00am (AEST).

Firefighters used foam to contain fuel around the crash site and the 33-year-old pilot was treated for head and back injuries at the scene.

He was taken to the Innisfail Hospital in a stable condition and is expected to be transferred to the Cairns Hospital later today.

He was the only person on board the chopper.

An ATSB spokesman says it will interview the pilot and a report will be released within several months.

Very lucky to be flying a jetty I'd say. In a squirrel turnout he might well have departed the scene still seated and they'd still be looking.
