It was supposed to open today according to the FCI. Still closed according to LASS.

Has it been postponed again? Checked my inbox but nothing about this.

For an hour before the bid was supposed to close I could not save my bids. Anyone else have a problem ?

There was an email about that a few days ago. Would have thought they would have fixed it by now but apparently not. Perhaps that´s why they keep the bidding open still, who knows?

Obviously not. Hopefully they'll have the allocations done by the start of the leave year, 6 weeks to go....

So, there's an FCI in my mail box dated this morning saying that I can bid for the last scraps of leave from 0800 this morning.
But I can't, because now approaching midday the Leave Application is still closed.
Maybe someone could call EGIT (means the same in Irish) because I just can't be bothered any more.

I just did mine - seems to be working. Try opening LASS, clicking logout and then opening it again. If you have closed the application down previously without pressing logout, it does that.

So many emails and FCIs I've lost track of WTF is meant to be happening and when. Tough luck if you were trying to arrange a vacation for the start of the leave year and these halfwits are STILL screwing everyone around months after it was meant to be done.

This smells like penny-pinching at work again. They're obviously trying to fine tune the summer operation down to the last bean because times are so tight. God forbid your leave is catered for in advance while they waste a dirham.

While you're waiting to find out if you can get away on 30 of the 42 vacation days they owe you, don't forget to keep going the extra mile.

Great, had my summer leave forcibly extended by two weeks leaving me with scraps for the rest of the year.

Love the email that came out with it, "we realise you may wish to save leave but there isn't any available later in the year" and "this is non negotiable" etc. Maybe I will demonstrate this kind of flexibility next time they want me to 'go the extra mile'?

As if things aren't bad enough on the Airbus fleet already with the crap rosters, crap destinations, single figure layovers each year, hours not counting towards command and watching new joiners go straight onto the 380 now they decide to rub salt in the wound with this horse:mad:.

Maybe time I took them up on the offer of "if you don't like it then leave"...

EDIT: forgive my stupidity but how does giving us extra summer leave help? The remainder of the years flying will be as it was planned to be, if everybody has used their leave in the summer surely we will be overcrewed the rest of the year?

Surely the temporary drop in flying would be better served by allowing us more days off? I suppose that would involve giving us something extra and hence is completely unpalatable to these management clowns. Looking forward to the emails for the rest of the year advertising 'newly available' adhoc leave to those who escaped the summer whitewash...:rolleyes:

My guess... Later in the year, there will be more transfers to the 380, thus no more leave available?

You forgot to mention the 105 days of reserve they have given you.
So in the coming 12 months, you can expect forced leave or forced reserve for around 40% of the year, and that is before you understand what the plan for the 80 days of runway closure will inflict upon the fleet.

In any normal operation, the contingency plan would be announced formally so we all understood what was going on rather than by piecemeal management rumour. We may have been offered an opportunity to "go the extra mile" and provide our professional input to minimize the impact. We would all know what was happening to the aircraft, we would all know the transfer plan to the A380/B777, and then finally we would start to consider fitting in f:mad: leave bids. :ugh::ugh::ugh:

All 'they' needed to do was offer an additional ALT to 330/340 drivers if they took extended leave in the 80 days single runway ops.

Mind you , that's a cost item to an accountant .

Direct entry, lower experience f/os joining straight onto the A380.
Six layovers a year at malaria destinations in the developing world.

As April bidding is open, how on earth am i going to bid, being in a good group, without knowing if a leave bid is honoured, changed by a few days, or ignored??

I know it's an old and scratched tune, but if we would be only remotely as incapable as these morons in planning, fogday would be everyday.

Given that the bid is open until 13 March and the leave should be out 9 March don't see the concern. But Glo, don't let me spoil your usual glass half empty rant!

I agree Glofish. We had fellas sacked for a go around, yet have managers looking after our leave, staff travel, and Economy class service acting like muppets and still employed.
