AFTC VET-FEE HELP course

Hi guys

I've applied for the VET-FEE HELP course with AFTC in Parafield, and they invited me to participate in their pilot aptitude testing which involves a COMPASS test and a brief chats with their people. And it is my responsibility to arrange and pay for my own way to Parafield, but actually I'm an Australian citizen and also a Hong Kong resident. I would kindly like to ask if there is anyone here have joined their VET-FEE HELP courses before or know anything about their version of the COMPASS test, because I really wanted to study in AFTC but if I failed the test, it will means I wasted my time and mainly my money around HKD6600 to get to Parafield but getting nothing. I really want to make sure I can pass their test and be part of the course.

Interviews for courses like this are mainly just to filter out students who have no idea and have little likelihood of completing the course.

The fact you are here taking the time to ask and researching the course probably means you won't have any problems at all.

A couple of tips:

- in a course like this the FEEHELP funding is often not enough for most people to complete the course. You need to be super-prepared an motivated, which will help you get thru the course in the minimum time and expense.

- a good way to do this is doing things like reading as many theory books, such as the Bob Tait ones, before you start the course to get a head start on the learning curve.

- often these courses have too many students and not enough planes or instructors. Instead of booking one lesson at a time, and then not flying for a week or so if you miss a flight due to weather etc, try and book a dozen lessons at a time to keep things moving.
