The company I work for is looking for a ground power unit for starting a small fleet of PT6 powered aircraft, general maintenance work, avionics work, and running the airconditioning & start for a Citation Bravo.

Power supply is available but highly unreliable, so we're thinking of either a dedicated mobile battery pack or a generator/battery combo with recharge off the mains. Its proving really hard - too much choice out there - to pin point exactly what we need. It needs to be maneuverable by hand so not too big/heavy but also reasonably sturdy and robust.

So can anyone out there give a definitive answer as to what capacity is required to start say 3-4 PT6s in quick succession, followed by extended maintenance use and maybe a Citation start. We need some help from someone with experience of a similar operation......

We used Tesla GPU 2000-24 for Metroliners. The TPE331 has agreater peak current draft compered to a PT6 and this GPU worked well on it and is able to recharge on mains
