Sadly, Ralph passed away over the week-end after a short illness.

One of the good guys.

Yeah - remember him in his Br. Eagle BAC 1-11 at Liverpool; the baseball cap in the left-hand seat was a giveaway. RIP Ralph

Very sad news indeed. Ralph was the exception to the rule that there are no old bold pilots, for he never flinched from confronting any threat to aircraft airworthiness, civil or military, be it from a compromised accident investigation or lack of regulatory enforcement.

He cared for his profession, striving to make it both accessible and properly regulated to newcomers, civil or military. He was in short a professional aviator and we are the poorer without him.

Checks complete, Captain Kohn.

R.I.P.

Only met him a couple of times - but yes, a lovely bloke, a professional of great experience who could ask the hard questions but remain a gentleman.
I think he was still flying into his '60s.
