Rumours re Monarch leaving Servisair/Swissport at BHX, this would be a major contract win for Menzies or whom ever may take them... Interesting times

Rumours that Easyjet has stopped all Negotiations with Menzies at EDI over a new contract. Only other handling agent is Servisair/Swissport.

Does any one know who is going to be handling the new low cost Air Canada and Cathay Pacific at MAN?

Air Canada Rouge are handled by Swissport and the Cathay Pacific contract has yet to be announced. I believe the bidding is between Menzies and Swissport with both ASIG and WFS ruling themselves out of the bidding.

I was under the impression that Cathay would self handle, can we rule this out?

An employee I know at MAN said they think they are going Menzies. As they seem to handle them in most other locations. Also the other two handling agents at MAN are struggling already.

All handling agents at MAN are struggling, along with the Fueling companies and the cleaning companies and airport Security and.... well, you get the idea !

The obvious choice would be Menzies after taking over Monarchs GH at LTN and BHX earlier this year, I don't think ASIG are well established enough yet which would only leave WFS as the only other candidate, although rumour has it that Airline Services are about to start full GH at MAN shortly. The SP contract will cease at midnight on the 7th November.

Airline Services are rumoured to get TOM over the winter.

Hardly a surprise giving SWP's performance (or lack of it) :E?

How is Aviator doing? Are they keeping hold of TCX in BHX or losing them to Menzies as I thought I read on here previously... Also wonder whom Monarch will go with at LGW...

Monarch will be going to aviator if swissport can't improve their turnarounds.

Emirates contract I've seen confirmed, not sure about Cathay but I can see them going there.

They've been poaching staff from the other failing GHA's at MAN for the past few weeks

Same situation at MAN. Would appear they gave Swissport notice before finding an alternative supplier. Rumor has it at MAN is that they approached Menzies expecting them to do if for peanunts, only to be told:- "Sorry, those days are over". They then returned to Swissport to find the door well and truly closed !! - Looks like they've not played their cards right this time.
- Watch this space !

I have a feeling Swissport MAN will be going very much like Servisair MAN did, minimal to no charter carriers.

backtrack_32
30th Aug 2014, 19:29
TCX at MAN also knocked on Menzies door expecting this that and the other for peanuts only for Menzies to turn around and say no, which I think it came as a bit of a shock to them as with MON. Its about time the agents finally told the airline that they will handle them on the handling agents terms and not the airlines.

On another note I hear Menzies at MAN are about to sign with Cathay, and lufty moving to ASIG. I aslo belive WFS are struggling with Jet2 big time.

kjsharg
30th Aug 2014, 22:16
Menzies seem to be thriving at swissports downfall. Especially if they bag any other airlines. Cathay will be a big success if they get it!

Cathay between menzies and dnata then?

Where will monarch go!

backtrack_32
30th Aug 2014, 23:08
It looks as though instead of taking on loads of work which is too much, the agents have learnt a thing from swissport. I think MON either need to revise their T&C's with Menzies or hope a new agent will pick them up, but a new agent could also charge a shed load per turn.

The96er
30th Aug 2014, 23:15
Menzies seem to be thriving at Swissport's downfall.

Far from it. Menzies are still struggling, in the U.K operation at least. Just not as bad as Swissport.

750XL
31st Aug 2014, 14:41
It seems to me that handling agents seem to be reluctant to take on charter carriers than they would in previous years, a wise choice maybe?

Huge seasonal fluctuations in traffic and slot 1/2/3 departures in the summer can really stretch manpower and also equipment, especially when you handle more than 1 charter carrier. Just look at Swissports first wave flights at MAN between FR/TOM/TCX/ZB/LH etc, crazy!

Has any body heard about a possible move at manchester from the CAA? Apparently they are close to coming in and taking over swissport till all their current contracts find a new handling agents resulting in them closing down or starting again? This I believe is manchester only.

Habana2118

Just been announced on Travel Weekly website that Airline Services is to commence ground handling operations for the first time starting with Monarch at Gatwick, article states Swissport will retain Monarch at Manchester! At least going forward the contracts are better shared out at Gatwick with Swissport having lost Monarch and Thomas Cook (to Aviator) in recent months / hopefully the service provided to other airlines will also improve.
