I know that it has nothing to do with aviation but still..........
Can anybody suggest a reliable watch repair in dubai?
Thanks

Minutes, there's one in Dubai Mall and Ibn Battuta (and probably MOE). Or if it's more specialised there is a little place at Festival City, just along from Hyperpanda.
Alternatively get a good 'copy' in Karama, I like Stilo.

Flare - don't waist your time or money with the mall merchants.

There is a brilliant guy in Satwa who is very cheap and will tell you before you leave how much to fix - he guarantees it for a year (and in my case longer)

He's an old Pakistani gent and is located along the left side on the Main Street in Satwa where he has a key cutting and watch repair store. There are two there on the left. He is the second one and you can tell by the 'water tap' that is prominent outside his stall (he is on the corner of a lane way). The missus and I both have expensive Swiss watches and I have used him for five years for service and minor repair.

The most I paid was 300dhs to have wifeys Rolex fixed as she broke it skiing. Took two days and that was two years ago - not an issue with it since. He fixed my Jj Le C. Tank watch for 200dhs with a year guarantee.

Both would have cost together 1000eu plus to have shipped to Switzerland, fixed, serviced and returned etc.

Good luck.

Taking a genuine Rolex to Satwa.... now I have heard it all...I think. Are you sure you didnt get a Lolex back?

Richemont is the agent for quite a number of top brands. You drop your watch at their offices here in Dubai and they send it to the factory in Switzerland for whatever purpose you like. Pricing seems fair but turnaround is a bit lengthy and they will not sell you any replacement crocodile straps due to some type of local restrictions up there. If the latter is important to you they can be found at Richemonts offices in Singapore.

The place in Festival City has gone. The Citizen dealer here has given me great service. One of my (realatively) expensive Citizen Pro Masters stopped working. I took it to a dealer in the UK while on a night stop, and they told me "can't be fixed, sorry". Took it to the dealer in Dubai, and he told me that they could not fix it in Dubai, but they could send it to Japan. It came back fixed, completely overhauled looking like new and packaged in the (new) original box complete with a new instruction manual. Total cost for all of this, including the shipment to Japan was 300 AED. :ok:

He fixed my Jj Le C. Tank watch for 200dhs with a year guarantee.

The official JLC store in Dubai Mall probably would have done it without charge. Great (free) service there.

There's a decent place in Mirdif City Centre. Took my Rainbow there and they did a good job at a fair price. Name escapes me though.

Defiler

He's moved slightly down the St towards the mosque on the LHS
He is now amalgamated with a newer, cleaner looking pseudo electronic shop. He sits just inside door on left.

I will be heading down there in the next couple of weeks and will get more detailed contact location / # ETC.

He just fixed a mates Omega Seamaster 👍

Fliion, thanks!
Actually I wanted to indicate the same about his newest location, - We've managed to find soon-to-be-parking-lot, where his shop was standing and occasionaly bumped in his current location - we just thought that he should still be nearby) Thanks to google-maps where the tap you've mentioned was visible). Yesterday gave him Raymond Weil for fixing.

Just out of interest, has anyone had any issues with the Breitling Service Centre in Dubai? I now insist on my watch being sent to Geneva. Takes time but it makes me feel better.

nakbin,

I took my Breitling to the shop in the Mirdif mall, they sent it to the service center in Dubai, had it back in about two weeks, seems like they did a good job, it's works fine.

As for cost, I did not check out any other places, so I don't know how it compares.

I've had no problems with the Breitling service center located in the top floor (offices) of Oasis center in Dubai. It's a professional-looking set up and I've used it a few times for battery replacement and one repair. Labour costs much cheaper than US or Europe obviously.

Thanks for the Breitling comments. Maybe I've just had some bad luck.

nakbin, I send mine (navitimer world) from Abu dhabi for a full overhaul (5 year visite) 3 months ago.
Job done in dubai service centre, 6 weeks long. Back like new and no issues since.
The official fees are available there : http://www.breitling.com/multimedia/pdf/sav/sav-1161.pdf
That's exactly what I paid for (2900 AED).
They claim having changed the crown and set of hands free of charge.

AD will always take time and depending on the brand you are looking at an average of 1.5-3k dhs price tag for fixing/full service. They normally give the watch a full service when sent for fixing outside warranty.

Full service involves taking the movement apart completely, change the used/broken parts, cleaning and oiling it and polish.

There are some guys that do fixing/service but the problem is if they have access to genuine parts. For example, Rolex restricts the independent places that have access to parts and they need a special account with them.
If your watch needs parts replacement...... some food for thought.
Same goes for high-end brands such as Patek, VC or AP. Restricted access to parts.

I would advice that if you own an expensive watch (Omega, Breitling and above...) take it to the dealer for fixing and service. Service intervals are in between 5-10yrs depending on the brand so it's not too bad.

However, an independent service center can be used if you know that the guys have access to genuine parte, lubricants and, of course, have knowledge. (Tricky for the place we live)
Such guys are limited in Dubai. PM me for details if you want. I'll recommend a place if it's suitable for what you need.

I have! Gave them my 1998 Breitling Aerospace for a battery change. They gave me back my watch with a different style strap and crown bezel!!!

And the Deira City Centre shop only conceded that my strap was different when I showed them photos of the original. They replaced the strap with one in the same style as the original and gave me a new crown bezel

I now have a 1998 watch, a 2014 bezel and an unknown date strap.

Oh, they did 'discount' my bill by 100 Dhs.

Dear Fliion and Deflier2004
Will highly appreciate sending pinned google map for the shop of the Pakistani guy as I was just there and I got lost, I have a Tagheur watch which has a movement problem and it seems that the word of mouth is still one of the most effective market tools.
Thanks in advance for ur help.
