I have just been watching the programme and was surprised by the commentary to the bit concentrating on the HMCG helicopter that claimed the 2nd pilot was on a task 20 minutes after joining the base. I assume what they failed to point out that he had been given pre-employment training at some HMCG central "OCU" type organisation. What is the system for new HMCG SAR crew - I am merely a lowly ex fixed wing and now glider pilot.

I watched that too and was a good episode. As Gannet's SK lifted off , spied the USAF C-17A Globemaster on the deck :)

I appreciate the guy was well experienced, but obviously not SAR, so interested in how the conversion was managed
