BAE Systems is looking for Air Traffic Engineering Manager.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Warton site for an Air Traffic Engineering Manager (ATEM) to join our rapidly growing Military Air and Information division, leading a team of Air Traffic Engineers. The unique nature of this role means that you will be dealing with both civil and military equipment, thus striving to ensure compliance with both Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Military Aviation Authority (MAA) regulations.

As Air Traffic Engineering Manager your main responsibilities will involve:

Managing staff and contractor personnel when working on communication, navigation or surveillance equipment
Reviewing and developing staff competency levels, performance and training plans to grow the competency levels or meet development needs
Managing the operation of the CAA approved maintenance organisation, ensuring the technical safeguarding of the airfield and providing technical support for Depth A and Depth B repair of all Ground Radio Communication, Ground Radar, Display Systems and Navigation Aids on the aerodrome
Supporting the forward planning and preparation of budgets, developing business and safety cases as appropriate, and also preparing, amending and operating prescribed maintenance programmes and associated documentation
Ensuring compliance with local and current Health & Safety at Work regulations and any other required regulations
Being flexible to accommodate shift work and occasional weekend work
Installing and maintaining a variety of equipment and interfaces, including radar and displays, ILS, DME, TACAN, HRDF, TX/RX, VCCS, NDB, AGL control and Vaisala meteorological systems

As Air Traffic Engineering Manager your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Engineering qualification to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent in electronics and telecommunications
Relevant airfield operational experience
A current CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) Personal Technical Certificate (PTC) or equivalent RAF certificate
Full and valid driving licence (the role will involve driving around the airfield and to remote equipment sites)
Substantial experience in the operation, repair, maintenance and installation of relevant equipment
Basic management skills or similar experience in a supervisory role
A good understanding of Windows and Linux/Unix PC architecture, plus network and data communications knowledge

What we are looking for in you:

To be successful in this role you need to be a confident and effective communicator with the ability to present information accurately and succinctly to non-operational stakeholders. You should also be equally capable working on your own initiative as you are in a team environment, because you will need to make good decisions to maintain operational services in a safety-critical environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a market-leading, global business that actively encourages personal development and career progression.
