As a member of that August body, I agree with the sentiment entirely.

What else CAN be said?

Perhaps chaps we are a bit nonplussed that you are inviting Air Eng/ Flt Engineers to contribute. I've never met one that would willingly put his hand in his own pocket  However, as an ex C130 Ground Engineer I'm more than happy to lend them a few of my "down route" allowances, because I had so many good times with the "man in the middle". Come on gentlemen, a worthy cause, and like me, many will have fond memories of some great blokes, I mention Gary Nicholson as an example.

Smuj .. perhaps too many FE's were taught by a well known GE on the Hercs from several years before you ... known as the "3 irish men" ... he was well known for frugality, taking his own food "down route" - and raiding the galley in the descent - to save buying meals on the ground .... he was, however, an unsurpassed expert on exchange rates ..... as well as a very accomplished GE .. :ok::ok:

OmegaV6,

Just trying to get my head around who he was. Sounds a bit of a lad. I'm dining with an even older GE than myself tonight, I shall quiz him on it. Meanwhile looking at the website it looks like the collection is going well and is over halfway to target. Best of luck to all, look forward to seeing it in place.

Smudge . . . I realise you were many things, but I didn't realise the term 'troll' was one :ok:

I distinctly remember a 'Jock Greig' rule. If you were in the North American continent in a bar, if you turned to your left, you'd find Jock with his hand in his pocket, but not deep enough to reach his money.

I believe that came from his time as a checker on Brits. I know he DID do drinks because I was invited to Great Somerford with SWMBO and he gave me a very nice beer!

OmegaV6, OK, and thanks for that. I think he was a good bit before my time.

Dengue Dude, me a troll? I apologise if I may have cast any nasturtiums, merely gentle banter I assure you. Some of my best sources of ale, down route, often came from the pocket of the "Eng", usually because he held the kitty.

Dengue Dude, that rule also applied in the Southern Hemisphere......but in that case one must turn to the right to see him! I note that he gave you ONE beer (and he has not forgotten it). He was my leader, too.
