As someone once put it, operating a drone instead of flying an aeroplane is likely to appeal to those who prefer watching pornography to having sex....:(

That is a battle for the future. The one that has tried to rename the drone as a remotely piloted air system has probably already been lost.


Indeed. I wonder which journo first picked up on my 'Drones of Death' post some years ago, when some worthless insurgent was plinked by a drone? Other journos soon followed suit - and now 'drone' is the universal term used in the UK by everyone except the MoD and its drone operators.

I think the word 'drone' is very useful. It provides an immediate combat indicator that the individual using it has no knowledge of what he's talking about!
