Can anyone recommend a good AME for class 1 medical renewals in the LGW or Sussex area?

The Belgrano itself is in that very neck of the woods !
They usually reckon they are about the best !

Recommend Dr Ken Eddington - Airport Medical Services (AMS) which is 500 meters from the airport as the airbus flies, in Horley.

It's actually EDGINGTON - just so you ask for the right name when you phone for an appointment !
But yes, would agree with the recommendation. A very pleasant chap !
Also connected with the Belgrano ! Ken is a former CAA Chief Medical Officer.
