What were they thinking, its like a boyfriend shirt worn with nothing underneath, for a Gulf Arab state, usually more conservative than others its really interesting, all later uniforms were knee to calf length, even Turkish had somewhat longer "mini skirts" than this back then.

Well in 1970 they'd only had independence for 9 years or so.

Probably a hangover from British rule and some funky 60s British fashions.

Well it only lasted for 4 years. Maybe fashion moved a bit faster in those days.

On a similar note, wonder if any of the UAE airlines will be getting new aircraft colour schemes or crew uniforms for the Expo extravaganza?
