Avcomm AC-950 ANR Headset for Student

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Avcomm AC-950 ANR headset? I've found one on ebay from an Australian seller for $150 starting bid. Is this headset any good, or very much a 'you get what you pay for' kind of thing?

I'm a student pilot and need to purchase a headset within the next month.

I'm still using the David Clark headset I bought in 1985. Its not used as my primary one, but converted to noise cancelling its used for passengers. The point is that well looked after, you'll get many years use out of a good headset. Buy the best you can.

If price is an issue, have a look at ebay for an old David Clark (probably from the US) and put an ANR kit in it along with the DC undercut gel seals. Freight from the US will be USD$30 - USD $50 and will take 10 - 14 days. The secondhand market there is maybe 20 times bigger than here.
