Err, but will we get a pay rise, i.e. to cope with the inevitable hike in the costs for everything (to say nothing of the cost of building the infrastructure required for hosting it)... ah well I suppose they can always go cap-in-hand to big bro down the road and request another bung ?!

So does this mean that El AL will start flying to Dubai soon?.:ouch:

I'm curious, is there also going to be an Israeli Embassy as well(!). :ooh:

On the bright side, this justifies the additional jobs EK's been speaking about.

For the lads who yet haven't moved over to Asiana, JAL,ANA and Korean, get ready for some 'serious' flying, including Fly Dubai getting in faster to Beirut.

Did anyone think Dubai would not get the expo? I was shocked they didn't choose Yekaterinburg (sarcasm intended). The only people who will make money off this are the business owners and to a certain extent those owning real estate. Greed will rule until the whole thing comes crashing down again. I'm guessing there will be another dubai real estate crash sometime between 2015-2018. Prepare to be overcharged for everything during the next 7 years :ugh: Wonder if EK will give us a healthy pay raise to offset the double digit inflation?

If I am still here in 7 years, would someone please put a bullet in my head!:ugh:

EK will have to open outstation, because they can't afford company accommodation anymore...:E

Be prepared.. I estimate 30% price hike on villas in the next month...
:ugh::ugh:

Yup, agree, rental's will be high, but what's even worse will be cost of living.

Expect more SALIK's | It might prove cheap to rent a yacht and sail to the other side of the city.

Except Higher Charges on DEWA | Utilities are going up for sure, they need to raise the money now for the 'big-push'.

Higher Service Charges | Staring and smiling to get 'Sheikh Abdul A Bull-Bull's stamp and signature on documents is going to cost you more.

High Etisalat and DU Bills| With Skype still blocked, your calls are going to be costly.

Booze | Definitely going up, 'Higher Tax on Haram" is the trend usually. Make sure you folks take the best out of the EPC Card.

And no raises.

Laker, the real estate crash will only happen after 2020, till then its going to be high, well, unless Syria breaks out in War and sends the region in a dive, pushing up fuel prices and costs, that would lead to another 'exodus'.:suspect:

They'd be no out-station bases, U.A.E wants to take back as much as possible of what it gave you, lets call in 'sublime' tax. :ouch:

Check out the gulf business website.
They state that the employer will have to bear the expense of health insurance.
Interesting they announce this at the same time they won expo.
Expo funding disguised as humanitarian?

Last weekend I posted a comment on this thread which i realize was offensive racist and unbecoming of both an airline pilot and someone who lived and worked in the Middle East.

Irrespective of the number of beers we slugged that evening(evening of the weekend) and inconsequential of my state or condition, I used a word:mad: which i'd term was not-justified, inappropriate, disrespectful and demeaning of a community and a region.

I would like to sincerely extend a heartfelt apology to all those who i may have offended, hurt, insulted, angered or upset.:ooh:

I'd like to thank Rob for bringing this to my notice.

I will be extra careful when commenting in future and importantly, Booze and Pprune CERTAINLY don't mix.

My sincere apologies to everyone on Pprune once again.

Many of us have been there (posting pissed); you have a clean slate and my respect.
