Blowing through this thread I'm afraid. I sort of remember this event, as I was there or about's for 3 years in area Lurcher and Dogger mid 1993- end 95 on board HMS RO XXX. A long, long time or so it seemed to us then.
Pretty pants film this resulted in (the F16 bit, not the FAA who have never had a full film made about them since.........1943)?
Strange how all that effort came for nothing really. 3 UK carriers on constant operations for 3 whole years.
I've often wondered if the people on the ground in the Balkans looked up and appreciated the efforts of our pilots and ships companies in preventing another, what?...Coventry...that place in Spain>? Probably not.
Thoughts anyone? Those that served, matelot or crab (or Army)?


Edited for entirely selfish reasons. I'm talking about the Balkan conflict and have had some (a lot) of sherry. The OP is on about later on 1999.Take your pick and fire away at will.
