Well, watch this space...

JFC Management will put their head into the lions mouth by taking over parts of Barrier.

Now, CASA Canberra are visiting with, I understand 6 inspectors, for a full week. A source from the inside tells me they brought no lube either...

Mark my words - Their strategy will be to put the screws on, now until Christmas and deliver the Show Cause Notice just as they switch the lights off for their languid Christmas break. No recourse - choke to death whilst they are on holiday.

Did it to us (over the Easter break), and Barrier at Christmas, last year. Now, mark your calendars and watch.

The coalition promised a thorough review of CASA. Come on Tony! No lube for them either!

In the mean-time, on with the motley.

That's my flight school out of JT. I hope they don't shut it down, at least until I finish my CPL!

How does that old song go, Ged?

...Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread? :hmm:

I have had maybe a dozen approaches to "borrow" my AOC over the last few years and there is one thing they have all had in common: the proponent has been more interested in "getting around" the rules than satisfying them.

I feel for the JFC team, I suppose they went into the deal with good intentions - but CAO 82 is pretty clear on "borrowed" certificates, is it not?

:ugh:

Who said anything about borrowed certificates?

....or aeroplanes, or staff, of an AOC holder whose AOC has been suspended, without the written permission of CASA.

My concern is this - Almost every time that CAsA is getting lined up for a potential bullet they come out flexing their muscle and usually just happen to ground an airline, issue a 'show cause' or ensure that the heat is deflected off them on to an operator of sorts, by showing that they truly are a capital 'R' regulator. I hope this is not the case here?

CJ #6 –"Almost every time that CAsA is getting lined up for a potential bullet they come out flexing their muscle and usually just happen to ground an airline, issue a 'show cause' or ensure that the heat is deflected off them on to an operator of sorts, by showing that they truly are a capital 'R' regulator." Funny coincidence department; exactly my thoughts when Ged first posted. I can't get hold of Hansard from estimates yet, but there were some pointed questions raised about the 'mob handed' approach and the Barrier fiasco. Anyway – if you can spare the time start back at the 'disillusioned' Polar attack and work through to Barrier, then join the dots.

"They have a saying in Chicago: 'Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, the third time it's enemy action.'" (Auric Goldfinger, by Ian Fleming).

True story that :suspect:

I wonder if CASA would be interested in talking to the long list of ex-JFC employees about how the Cole's conduct their business....purely from a CASA compliance perspective that is! CASA don't regulate pay or work conditions, that's another government mob that have already visited them :E

CASA now have a lengthy list of documented evidence/facts about the shortcomings in that business, my guess is they have ran it past their legal team and it has been deemed enough evidence to turn out the lights and close their doors.

I have heard a rumour from JT that most casual staff have been laid off and full-time staff have been told the business is closing shortly due to some CASA findings...

Anyone heard any news about this?
