Just after some advice really!

I can't start my trainning for another year and a half cause of financial restrictions. Basically I need to save more cash.

I am just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I can be getting on with now, in terms of achieving my CPL, while I wait out the year and a half!?!? I don't want all that time to just be wasted but I don't know what I can be getting on with. ATPL's (?) or is that to difficult without the practical experience?

Any guidance would be very welcome!! <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

There are lots of things you can do.. .Nothing stopping you from getting your PPL.. .If that is too costly, join a gliding club or microlight club and get flying. Gliding will get you in the environment and your skills will start being honed. Also, you can make some very useful contacts.. .Do you have an airfield with maintenance hangars nearby? Introduce yourself to them and ask if you can assist with some 100 hourlies and so on. Really learn about the aircraft you are going to fly. Ok, you may think I am going to fly jets... true, but there is quite a lot on piston engines and the like in the JAR ATPL syllabus to keep you amused. Again, this will show you are keen and a 100% aviation person. Again... you may make some useful contacts.. .Grab some books and then go to an aviation/engineering museum. Learn about structures, aero engines (esp turbines), wing shapes etc.. .Start nutting out the weather systems and the weather conditions that follow. Start learning about world weather, especially the ITCZ.. .What is required now is to get a really good solide base from which to centre the rest of your learning and study from. . .Have fun. :)
