Hi, folks

Just wondering when the landing lights on a 747-400 (specifically) are turned on for landing.

Are some/all turned on at 18,000 or 10,000', then the rest during approach?

Looking at the wiring schematics for our late model aircraft, I see that if you only turn on the inboards with the gear UP, the lights go to dim (not to be confused with the heating power on some -400s which keeps the lamp warm when not in use). If you turn on the outboards only with the gear UP, the lights go to bright. If you turn on all the lights with the gear UP, they go to dim. Basically, the Inboard Light Switches control the brightness of their respective wing.
When the gear comes DOWN, they all go to bright.

Thanks
Cheers
