Sea Venom

Visited Duxford this wonderfully autumnal Friday, the place was as good as ever.
Was surprised however, to note that the excellent De Havilland Sea Venom
seems to have disappeared???
Given that Duxford have a Gannet, Sea Vixen, Sea Hawk, Wasp, Buccaneer,
etc, surely a Sea Venom would sit neatly in such a noble line-up. If they have
"got rid" of it, WHY for heaven's sake??? And where has it gone???
Any clues?

I understand it was sold to the Polish Aviation Museum, Krakow, in 2012. Strange and sad decision as FAA aircraft aren't exactly over-represented at Duxford. I believe a couple of Polish aircraft designers were involved in Sea Venom development, which may explain their interest in taking it on.

There was a selling off of some of the "jewels" of the collection as they were deemed not to fit the Duxford brief.
You may have noticed the lack of a JU52 that was presented by the Portuguese to the UK, that was deemed not to be a German aircraft as it was licence built so departed to the same museum, our loss their gain.

They flogged off about 5 aircraft and lots of engines etc..

The Sea Venom would fit surely into the existing line-up of post war FAA aircraft. Also, I thought the remit of the IWM was to reflect Britain's involvement in various conflicts through its displays and exhibits. Given that the SV was
heavily involved in the Suez conflict, why on earth would you sell it off, and to
a foreign country so that this important exhibit is no longer even in the UK.
Such people are in charge of part of our national heritage? I wonder if they
have as much knowledge of history as they do of accounting?
What was that phrase, "They know the cost of everything and the value of nothing." Disgusting.
