Good spot. I've forwarded this article to the RAFA Press & Media Office. Preston RAFA's fairly close so hopefully they'll ask someone to attend. Just hope they read it in time.

Good to see the nationals getting hold of it...

Military veterans respond to funeral appeal for war hero | World news | theguardian.com (http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/09/military-veterans-respond-funeral-appeal-war-hero)

A funeral company's calls to honour a late war hero have been embraced by members of the military and general public after an RAF veteran died with no close friends or relatives. Harold Jellicoe Percival, a distant relative of Spencer Perceval – the only British prime minister to be assassinated – helped with the famous Dambusters raids during the second world war.

Anyone care to post an accurate Lat Long .... You know just incase. Is it the Lytham Park at Oundle south of Stamford? My knowledge of the central LFAs is great. Any ex Harrier mates care to comment on the feasibility? (Obviously due to local knowledge before anyone gets smart)

Preston RAFA called me back this evening. Now that they're aware, they will have several attending. Bravo!

Giving war hero Harold the send-off he deserves? Hundreds of mourners to attend the funeral of Dambusters crew member, 99, who died alone in a nursing home | Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2495075/Giving-war-hero-Harold-send-deserves-Hundreds-mourners-attend-funeral-Dambusters-crew-member-99-died-nursing-home.html)

It is a great pity that the poor guy didn't get some help and comfort before he died.

Did anyone manage to bimble over the appropriate Lat and Long at about 1100 today? Just curious as to the real power of Pruners. :ok:

I noticed in the photographs in the Daily Mail,

Hundreds attend Remembrance Day funeral of Bomber Command veteran | Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2500051/Hundreds-attend-Remembrance-Day-funeral-Bomber-Command-veteran.html)

that several young chaps with what I take to be Cranwell cadets (white hatbands and epaulettes). Along with other representatives of the RAF. Great response from the service community, as always, and a real credit to the youngsters who "carry the torch" these days. RIP Harold, your passing was certainly recognised.
