Hi Guys,

My instrument rating is due for it's initial revalidation at the start of January 2014 and I know I can do it in the Sim but would prefer just to do it in the aircraft for the practice. Have a few free days from work at the end of this month and was looking for somewhere where I could get the whole thing done over 3 or 4 days including any intial training just to get back into the swing of things.

Could anyone recommend a decent training centre in the UK or Ireland where I could get it done for a competitive price.

p.s my Initial was done on a Beech duchess so I'd prefer to do it on that aircraft but it probably wouldn't matter a huge amount at the end of the day (the DA42's look pretty interesting ;))

If you are looking to get it done in a few days I would stick with the aircraft you trained on. The DA42 with its glass cockpit and significantly different flying characteristics is somewhat another world compared to the legacy types like the Duchess and Seneca, I doubt one could get to grips with it in a few days, especially not to the standard to pass an IR revalidation (I certainly couldn't :E) without previous experience of it.

I would recommend PAT at Bournemouth who operate the Duchess.
