DRAKE WINS STC FOR PARACHUTING FROM GV | Article - Thu 17 Oct 2013 09:41:34 PM UTC | airsoc.com, reach for the sky. (http://airsoc.com/articles/view/id/526673d79aad9def70000004/drake-wins-stc-for-parachuting-from-gv?)

Why? Is there a market for this sort of thing? Perhaps one of the Blackwater- style high-end body-guard/merc outfits? Granted, it's just paperwork, so it didn't cost them much to develop it, but presumably they had to make at least 1 flight. Will they recoup their costs?

They wouldn't have done it if there wasn't a (potential) customer lined up for one.

Friend of mine flies a G550 for a guy who has over 6,000 skydives under his belt. Owner spends a lot of time at his ranch in Idaho and is looking forward to being able to hop out the back and float down to his house while his Gulfstream makes a U turn and heads back home.

Pretty wild way to drop your boss off after a 2 hour flight.

Certain agencies that shall not be named would love this STC, fly across the pond, airdrop certain packages/cargo/people and quietely land somewhere, no one the wiser.

In addition to single and tandem sport parachuting, the STC allows the delivery of emergency medical supplies, survival equipment and specialized critical replacement components by static line at great distances from the aircraft departurepoint.

Tststs, guys, you always think the worst... Donīt you know that the GV is the most economical vehicle to carry medcine and stuff to those in need ?

Thats why umpteen human aid organizations will buy em now...! :)

Um, point of order, "Certain agencies that shall not be named" don't need no stinking STC.... for anything.

The major problem you face here isn't opening the door inflight, but keeping the damn aircraft from sending Gulfstream a message. The damn aircraft tells all...
