Found this thread on Airliners.net and noticed it had not been mentioned on here yet...
Looks like things could be on the up :) Hopefully.

Good if you have thousands of hours experience already.
Despite many newly trained pilots waiting out there, being in America and the competition this may attract, there's very little hope for new trainees, still good news if true though !!!!

The company hasn't taken on a new pilot in ten years.

All these pilots will come from regionals right? So surely the new pilots out there can fill instructor positions etc. Sounds like good news to me.

That is 1500 pilots over 5 years. There are over 17,000 regional pilots, not to mention corporate and 135 pilots who meet the experience requirements who may be interested. Looking at the numbers doesn't get me that excited. It is good news but not great news.
According to the FAA, over 4000 original CFI certificates were issued in 2012. The FAA estimates that there are over 98,000 active flight instructor certificates out there (granted not all are actively instructing).

Is this position available in any way for UK citizens with an EASA fATPL?
Sounds like you need to convert to a US licence first?

You definitely need to convert your license into a FAA license. As well as getting yourself a work permit or green card in the US. That my friend is not an easy task.. Best chance is to marry an american, but that's not a sure thing either.
If the US is really low on pilots I guess an airline can sponsor some pilots from overseas with the green cards, but that is not likely to occur with todays over crowded pilot situation.
I was hoping to be flying in US as well... But I guess I should have been in an american flight school at first for that to happen.

I'm a little worried about the future .I want to be a pilot since childhood and now I'm 15 years old, you guys think I can still have a career in aviation as a pilot, because i saw a post online that in the future the airplanes wil not have a cockpit. I am very worried:confused:

...that won't happen for a while you might see it in your lifetime but not for a while. Good news is you have your age on your side. This is a numbers game TAP would be ideal but then again you don't want to be a pilot only to stay in your hometown.. do research look at the numbers right now, Asia is getting most of the airplanes second is EU and then USA look at which companies will have the highest rate of retirements. Now go to flight school based on where you want to work otherwise you might find your self converting your licenses etc..that is of course once you get all your ratings... Remember 2 things you love your mother and seniority is your best friend!
