I'm a professional writer currently writing a thriller. There is a complex scene involving helicopters at Kandahar airport, and I would really welcome some expert advice on what is and isn't possible. This involves several different issues so would probably be better discussed via email, if anyone is willing to tolerate what may well be stupid questions.

BTW These are not the kinds of questions that can be answered by searching the Internet. They really do need someone who knows Kandahar and, more importantly, about flying helicopters in extreme conditions.

As you await responses, here (http://tptblogs.wordpress.com/2012/04/09/flying-out-of-kandahar/) is a short piece which might help in building some of the background information you seek.

Excellent writing, Savoia, and a fascinating insight. Thanks.

Had one response, BTW

Sly: If you've not had the level of response you were hoping for, please post a copy of this message on the Military Aircrew Forum (http://www.pprune.org/military-aircrew-57/).

Also, once your book is published, please feel free to post details on our 'Helicopter Action Book' thread (http://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/293737-chickenhawk-other-good-helicopters-action-books.html) and some of us may well order a copy!

All the best.
