EC 225 TYPE RATING

Hello all,
I'm new on this forum.
I hold a valid U.S. ATPL and I fly on SA 330 J and AS 332 L1 for an US company.
I would get a type rating on EC 225 on my US license.
What training should I do?
Should I just spend a flight test or I have to do some hours of training before the test?
I am French and I live in France.
Is it possible to spend this type rating with ELISIM in France at Marignane with an FAA instructor?
It be noted that I spent a type rating on EC725 which is the military version of the 225.

Cougar, if you have a military type rating on the EC725 and apply to DGAC for an EASA licence I believe they would issue the licence with an EC225 rating. I do not know how this translates in FAA land. Maybe someOne else on this forum could help.

Bonsoir Cougar,

Just give a call to Helisim, they are FAA certified for some helicopter types (can't say if yet, for the 225) and most of their SFI are also FAA qualified...

HEllo,

Normalement La QT725 n'est pas valide dans le civil tu devras donc passer ta QT225 mais normalement dans cette qt ils tiendront compte de ton experience 725...
Mais appel helisim essais d'avoir Brian TENDRON...
Sinon je ne sais pas ou tu vis mais peut voir chez Bristow a aberdeen ils ont reçu un simu l'an dernier si mes souvenir sont bon....

Go to Helisim and get hold of my good friend Mitchel who is an SFI on the 225. Hde can get your 225 rating done.

Il n'y a aucune passerelle entre le L1 ou SA330 et le EC 225 en FAA.
Pas de passerelle aussi entre la JAA et la FAA, pour cette TR...
Tu dois faire une TR complete:
1. une procédure TSA complete
2. Tu peux tout faire à Hélisim mais en passant par American Eurocopter (la TR 225 fait partie de leur training center)
TR 225 FAA:
10 jours de ground course (tu peux le faire à Hélisim)
28h de simulateur FFS D 225 (le seul FFS D certifié FAA est à Hélisim)
ATP check ride inclus dans les 28H
En FAA, c'est une TR multi pilote (donc la QT est faite pour 2 pilotes = 14H en tant que copi et 14h en tant que captain)

FAA legislation is different of JAA (EASA) for the EC225 TR:
You must pass a full Ec 225 TR.
For the FAA, EC 225 and AS330/332 have a different TR.
(1 TR for 330/332 and 1 TR for EC225)
FAA EC225 TR:
1. Full TSA process
2. You can do all the TR at Helisim with American Eurocopter Training Center
- 10 days of ground course (can be done at Helisim)
- 28 hours of simulator FFS level D (the only FFS D certified by the FAA is at Helisim)
It is a multi pilots TR:
Training: you have 12 hours as captain and 12 hours as co-pilot
Check ride: you have 2 hours as captain and 2 hours as co-pilot
