Two Marines are walking from Camp Pendleton to 8th and I in Washington, DC to raise money for Wounded Warriors.

Currently, they are entering Arkansas which is just slightly more than halfway in their Journey.

I cannot imagine the Welcome they will get at the Marine Commandant's Quarters upon their Arrival at 8th and I. I am sure they will be guests of honor at the evening parade.

We are proud of our Military....especially of these two Guys!

If you do FB....Friend them.....if you got some loose coin....donate!

I did both....and will join some of my Mates adding to their Welcome when they get in the vicinity of DC in September-October.

We will be riding our Harley's.....and making a lot of noise. Weekend before last we had 300 Bikes attend a Fund Raiser for Wounded Warriors in the Northern Virginia area.....raised $18,000 in one day.

Aaaahhh, are you one of them ? :ok:

Have always been impressed with the Riders and how they support
and line routes for servicemen.

If you can post up pics when you get a chance, that would be good.

You are thinking of the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR).....and they do good things for Veterans and their families at very trying times for the families.

I plan to get involved with them....but time has been short due to other obligations.

My current group is called "Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association" and we are very active across the country....with Chapters in every State but Delaware.

I have been approached about starting a Chapter in my home town for another organization that is similar in their activities but is actually a Motorcycle Club rather than a "Non-Club" Association.

The PGR came about in reaction to the Westboro Baptist Church bunch of arseholes....and has grown tremendously since its inception.

The PGR participates only upon request by the Veteran's Family....and will provide a Motorcycle Escort and/or Flag Line as requested by the Family.

If Westboro shows up.....the PGR and other Veteran Groups form a barrier of bodies, bikes, and flags between the Protesters and the Funeral, Funeral Procession, and Family's residence. It never fails the Counter Protest always....dwarfs the Westboro Crowd and thus far Law Enforcement has been very careful to protect the Veterans Rights. (Hint.....Westboro's position is not popular with the Plod as Westboro shows up at Police Funerals too!)

This is what we stand against.....they are welcome to their views...but we think they are not welcome to offer then at Funerals of those killed in action or while on duty as Police Officers. They are free to march on the White House, Congress, and any Government Building.....just not funerals and the homes of the families who have lost loved ones.
