Hi everyone, just received an email to attend an interview with VARA. It said to log on and select a time and date. Logged on pressed "make a booking" as requested. All it said was that no times and dates are available. So....that's it? It said to hurry and make a booking as they go quickly, just walked in the door from flying all day, the email was only 3 hours old? Any advice

Cut throat industry isn't it.

Sad really. Mass email, first to respond gets chance. Typical hiring style.

Where HR are involved it is about elimination, not selection.:\

If that is the operator that uses the KingAir simulator to assess your instrument flying ability, insist you get a thorough cockpit layout briefing and time to study the instrument approach charts.

There is anecdotal evidence that some candidates found the test was rushed with inadequate briefing possibly due to simulator time (money?) constraints. Those who have not flown a KingAir, need to be given a reasonable amount time to familiarise themselves where things are, let alone remember attitudes and speeds. Apparently sometimes it didn't happen.

Give them a call. There may have been an issue with their online system.

It might be an idea to book the sim with a sim centre trainer the day before for one hour. Well worth it as many have done before.
