This dramatic shot of Atessa IV's helicopter, blown on its side just off Cap Martin, Monaco, was taken by Richard McCreery. This happened during the heavy storms that swept across the south of France earlier today.

Judging by the "yacht" it's on, I would guess its pocket change to the owner !

Cheers,

Just one? Surely there's room for a spare.

I guess next time they will tie it down properly! Far stronger winds in the antarctic for the crews to cope with!

Yes, but sometimes the owners don't want to see tie downs on the aircraft during the day, so these things will continue to happen.

It's got tie downs now.

Is it fair to say this wouldn't be covered by insurance? I am imagining that such a setup has an operations manual stipulating when the helicopter should be tied down; one such occasion being when certain weather conditions are forecast, another I presume being when under way.

You'd imagine that a $250 million yacht would have a better flight deck, or am I thinking too logically?

Yep long days does that to you, of course had you used the adjective (real) as is customary in strine sarcasm, instead of the adverb (really), then even slow me could have "got it".

cheers tet

Maybe you should read this thread (http://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/458113-helicopters-superyachts.html) to find out who owned Attessa III.

Hello A S,

As I said before your post, I made a mistake.

so you did, we're talking about Attessa IV ! ;)

Attessa IV ? the masterful rebuild that produced a superyacht masterpiece (http://www.boatinternational.com/yacht-features/attessa-iv-the-masterful-rebuild-that-produced-a-superyacht-masterpiece/)

Apologies. Didn't realise it was necessary to explain that it was the same person who commissioned Attessa III also commissioned her successor.

Perfect example of why one blade should be parked over the nose..... of a three blader. ;)

Hope the underside wasn't mucky or the pilot will be really in for it.
