The Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA), one of the leading Royal Air Force welfare charities, will be launching its new Youth Membership scheme, rafa YOUTH, on 1st August 2013. rafa YOUTH will be open to all young people aged 13-17 years ols who are currently members of a recognised air-related uniformed youth organisation such as the Air Cadet Organisation, Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets or Air Scout/Air Explorer Scouts and who love flying, gliding, aviation, the Royal Air Force or who just want to be part of something special.

rafa YOUTH aims to: encourage volunteering/support; promote youth development through an air-related environment; increase awareness of RAFA and its role/purpose; and perhaps most importantly, do something that is fun and enjoyable for young people.

For an annual subscription of £10, rafa YOUTH members will receive an online membership card, exclusive high street discounts and offers, opportunities to volunteer and support the Charity and the first 1500 members will receive a free new design rafa YOUTH wristband.

But it gets EVEN better :D – all rafa YOUTH members will be able to enter free prize draws to win amazing prizes which include civilian flying lessons, one-day mini gliding courses, microlight flying, VIP days with the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team (Red Arrows) and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Experience days with the Royal Air Force and BAE Systems, tandem sky-diving experiences or tickets for up to 10 people to spend a whole day paintballing at a local Delta Force Entertainment Centre…

As an example, the August Prize Draws will include 3 individual Flying Experience prizes each worth £300 which can be put towards civilian flying lessons at a local Flying School or Club and 10 places on a VIP Day at BAE Systems Warton which will include a visit to Air Traffic Control, the Typhoon Assembly line, the Hawk Assembly line and a briefing from a Typhoon Test Pilot.

It will also be possible to give a gift of 12 months rafa YOUTH membership to an individual or to many individuals or even a whole Squadron, Troop or Section. The young people who are lucky enough to receive a gift membership voucher would all sign up individually using the RAFA website www.rafayouth.org.uk ensuring that all the parental consent and data protection issues are dealt with directly by the Charity. If you would like to gift 12 months membership to rafa YOUTH, please call the Association on 0116 266 5224 and ask for the Finance Team.

And after minimal training they will be deployed on operations as part of the current "hitler youth and old men on bicycles" strategy.:}

And the parents, older siblings or other rellies will be particularly welcome as adult volunteers into any of the uniformed youth organisations mentioned.

Shortage of adult volunteers can mean waiting lists for the young people .....

Here (http://www.raf.mod.uk/aircadets/wanttojoin/adultvolunteers.cfm) is a good place to start if you want to be an Adult Volunteer with the Air Cadet Organisation........:ok:
