Navy completes 1st unmanned carrier landing (http://news.yahoo.com/navy-completes-1st-unmanned-carrier-132056652.html)

The Navy successfully landed a drone the size of a fighter jet aboard an aircraft carrier for the first time Wednesday, showcasing the military's capability to have a computer program perform one of the most difficult tasks that a pilot is asked to do.And yet, what the commercial airline business needs is more manual hands-on training so that pilots won't crash their jets on a CAVOK day. (sarcasm)

"It is not often that you get a chance to see the future, but that's what we got to do today. This is an amazing day for aviation in general and for naval aviation in particular,"

Before we get too carried away I wonder how the UAV would have managed with a PAPI's only approach......better or worse than Asiana?

Yes........the Google plane IS 'just around the corner'........

One thing, for sure.........that Google aircraft would NOT have pulled off an "asiana"
