Just curious. In the EU is there a regulation on in which language(s) the pre-flight safety demonstration is to be given? (The Swiss often adopt EU regulations).

Reason I ask relates to a Squeezy-UK flight from Geneva to Bristol where they played an audio tape in French first, with no demonstration (and passengers still in the aisle, not paying attention) followed by a spoken English text with 'normal' demonstration.

Similar on the return a few days later. French tape, no demonstration, no request for passengers to pay attention, disinterest by the cabin crew.

To me, to ensure safety, the full demonstration should be done in two languages - the ones of the origin and of the destination.

Realise this wasn't Squeezy-CH who do their demonstrations in/out of Geneva in French and English.
