Having looked again, how many kids in the UK had a basket ball under their arm back then!

The livery is from the Maxwell era so mid 80's to 1990 ish. Her last flying work was in the Falkland Islands for the later version of BI and was sold to Carson I believe for conversion to a T model. Hopefully still flying in Afghanistan

That looks either like lifting the aircon units onto the Norwich Union offices in Norwich or a simlar job near LHR. Around 1988-9. Most likely flown by Ian Young or Phil Keighly.

She would only just have got that paint scheme. One of the nicest and lightest S61s there was at the time. I flew 1137 hours in her and wish I could still fly her or any of her sisters.

A little under-powered, but a joy to pole.

They were lifting some equipment (rumoured to be for mobile phone transmitting/relay or whatever) on to the top of the Arts Tower (250ft high from ground to top) of Sheffield University.
I took the piccies, but I can't for the life of me remember the date!

P.S.
I've got a couple of different pictures still to load, but I am having a great deal of trouble doing so. Keep checking back, I WILL do it eventually!

These pictures above were taken when I were a lad!
The Westland Flying Circus came to Sheffield to try to convince the local dignitaries and ne'er-do-wells in the Town Hall what a splendid idea it would be to have a heliport in the middle of such a thriving city.
They were flown all around the local parish, and hither and thither for the entire afternoon, after which they decided that a declining, backward looking city like Sheffield had no place for these new fangled flying machines. Umbug! Rich man's toys, etc., not for the likes of us.
With true Luddite mentality, this attitude is still proudly maintained by the City Fathers, witness the Sheffield City Airport debacle.

P.S. There were actually two Widgeons and the Whirlwind, but I only got a side piccie of one Widgeon, so don't know the reg on the other one!

The S61 lifting onto the Arts Tower brings back a memory. I was driving past on Western Bank going west and looked over to see that aircraft lifting from the car park. I guess NZ must of been standing just to my right at the very same moment! I think it was 2002/ July ?

It was certainly Sheffield Arts Tower (Home of the Paternoster", flown by Phil Keightley and Dick Hansen.
This was the second attempt, as the previous week we landed at the hotel, but go fogged in , then back to Beccles having done nothing. Helped out with Murder enquiry while we were there and had a good pub lunch as I remember
