Following this week's Julia Gillard "I'm Prime Minister so you've got to listen to me" campaign on misogyny/sexism it is now reported that the Australian Defence Forces will be given a new super food which increase the fighting and war like capabilities of our forces and bring them more into line with our PMs political correctness campaign.

This new wonder food is called "milk pudding" or, as some refer to it, "sops"

Three armed forces personnel have been suspended for sending emails that denigrate women. It is alleged these men exchanged emails and other material that degrades others and refers to illicit drugs.

A further five are facing suspension over the emails.

Another nine people appear to have been involved in the distribution of the emails and are still being investigated.

At a press conference this afternoon, Army Chief Lieutenant General David Morrison said three of the persons of interest may be of interest to the NSW Police.

In addition, there are around 90 Australian Defence Force personnel who may have been on the periphery of these exchanges. They are also being investigated.

The highest ranking officer is a lieutenant-colonel. The others are either majors, captains, warrant officers, sergeants or corporals.

The emails were sent from a defence computer since 2010.

General Morrison told reporters: “I’m appalled at this stuation.”

He said the emails were symptoms of a culture problem within the Defence Force and is something that he will be continuing to investigate.

Best hide away all those Playboys and stop sending sexist jokes boys - at least until 14 September.

Anyone ever hear of a woman getting dinged for an anti-male sexist crack? Gillard is a real scary-Mary, not helped by the fake Aussie twang

And there was me thinking this was to be the latest Aussie Compo:

"Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard was said to be 'deeply shocked' today by a sexist dinner menu drawn up by the opposition Liberal Party in which she was likened to a quail with 'small breasts, huge thighs and a big red box'.
Details of the menu at a fundraising event in Brisbane were revealed after Miss Gillard's warning that if her Labour Party lost the general election in September, the incoming Liberals would be 'dominated by men in blue ties' and women would be given only minor roles."

Two separate subjects.
The nonsense our PM is carrying on about and what has happened in the ADF.
If anyone is interested in the stand being taken by the Head of the Army, have a look at the Sydney Morning Herald site...smh.com.au
Garbage up to the rank of Lt. Col. I should think the folks involved have mothers, wives, daughters, sisters. How would they feel if degrading images of them were being sent around on the DOD internal system, with accompanying vile comments.
As the Head of the Army says...if you don't like the stand I am taking, get out

I was surprised at the level this occured.

Lt Col, Major, Capt, WO ?????

Not like they are short termers and most of them
probably presented or organised a lecture to
the troops under command on the subject.

The head of Army took the right stance and
a few careers might have come to an end.

Just like the menu scandal it all seems a little convenient that an ADF sexism issue comes out this week. Labour has been sitting on the menu scandal since march.

So has the media.

The media, labor, everyone knew about it, the ABC admitted
everyone saw it way back when and nobody took any interest
in it - until now.

IMHO, the ADF sexism issue came out "by request".

So what is the significance of all these stories coming out now, are we being prepared for an early election? (hopefully!).

It seems that the story is a bit more serious than the initial reporting suggested. I was going to can this thread but as it has broadened out a bit I'll leave it up for a while.

The story appears to be the filming of sex acts with subordinates and then circulating the results together with demeaning comments. If so then the perps deserve everything coming their way.

Absolutely agree.
The Chief of the Army is looking more and more like a top bloke as the day goes on.
Love the option he put...if you don't like the stand I am taking, get out.
Pretty simple, really.

I hear that the Aussie PM is so concerned that this poor behaviour will spread to other sections of society, such as the cricket team, that she has instructed everyone to hit out at the Root cause of the problem.

I do not believe banter between the genders will ever go, but as more information comes to light, this series of incidents increasingly seem to have gone beyond the pale.

Beyond the pale indeed. This story tells a little about the Chief of Army. His comments about "looking after your mates" are particularly telling.

I don't care about the PM. The person holding that office will soon be replaced by the Australian people.

Anyone ever hear of a woman getting dinged for an anti-male sexist crack?

In my profession (nursing) I've heard of a few females who have been disciplined for making sexist jokes directed at male colleagues. In some areas of healthcare anti-male sexism is more a problem than others, I've never experienced anything I couldn't laugh off though.

As with all professions dominated by one gender, there will always be a degree of sexism directed by a few idiots towards the other gender. This doesn't make it right, just a consequence of having such a large sample to draw examples from.

Strangely though, given the female dominance (I'd advise not Googling those last two words, unless its your particular thing) of nursing, males fill a disproportionate number of senior and specialist roles.
