Landed at Sollas this afternoon. The beach is in very good condition , smooth and dry apart from a small section at the south end, so if the weather co-operates it looks as if the beach will be fine for the fly-in

Just back from Sollas. I'll post a video tomorrow morning if YT takes it by then. There's one spot to be avoided - a sheet of construction material washed up and embeded in the sand. Plenty of other space to land though. Wind was no problem today, and it's supposed to get better. The Round Britain Microlighters are NOTAMed for Sunday.
I got a quick internet access with O2 and John had a good Vodaphone signal, but there seemed to be no T signal.

Thanks Mike. The beach obstruction can be seen at 3.10 to 3.14 on the video. Beach inspection and turn to land. Not a text book approach - but I couldn't find a beach approach in a text book.:)

Just back from Sollas this evening. We had 18 aircraft on Sunday including 9 from Fly Uk who night stopped. Also 3 Fly Uk A/C on Monday
Managed to remove the roofing sheet on Monday. We thought it was better to leave it in place during the weekend, rather than create a soft patch.
The spot needs to be avoided for a week or two until the sand settles.
The area is about 400 metres from the North end, and 150 metres out from the bank. Not a problem if using the main 04/ 22 direction, But need to look out for it if landing across the top end into a strong westerly, as in the video.
