Boeing announced Friday a significant shift of both current and future engineering work out of Puget Sound, to Southern California and South Carolina.

The company also said it is exploring opening a new engineering design center in Kiev, Ukraine, to add to the one it already has in Moscow, Russia.

The most significant immediate impact locally comes from the decision to move engineering support for airlines that fly out-of-production airplanes — such as older 737 classics and 757s — from Tukwila to Long Beach, Calif., within six to nine months.

Cue the union radicals to tell us all how Boeing is endangering flight safety and using unskilled cheap labour.

Sounds like the TQMS of 25 years ago

TQMS = Time to Quit, Move to Seattle

only now it's back south to Long Beach where your old house has been rolled over multiple times and you can no longer afford to buy it back

Following in the footsteps of their simulator training facilities which are also in the process of being relocated to a place that is less prone to earthquakes. Now, they will be in a hurricane zone in Miami.
