look at airmech 2010 salary survey it's not that great, judging by the pilots comment no pay rise in over 2 years it wouldn't have changed much since.
The sandpit ain't as good as people make it out to be, especially for engineers, we are the bottom of the pile.
I don't live or work there so no comment on price of living.
Good luck

I don't know anything about the salaries at QATAR LAME (I am only SLF), but things to be aware if you move to Doha:-

1) Cost of living is similar or higher than the UK if you live a Western Expat life style.

2) There are concerns reported in the local media that inflation could be a problem in the next few years in the build up to the world cup in 2022.

3) If you have children of school age, I read that all the schools have long waiting lists for places.

However we are on our third posting here and had absolutely no problems deciding to come back here when offered Doha or Canada.

I was in Doha 3 years ago and met a lot of the Qatar LAMEs.
Points to remember is that there are very few Europeans there. 99pc of the Engineers are from Asia. The cost of living is high for a European, and the cost of accomodation is extremely high.
I lived in Bahrain in the 1980's, but would not go to DOH today.
