Ist an EC135

Wow, I am really amazed. Wonder if the pilots felt it on contact.

according to the video they only noticed it upon getting out of the machine. Lucky.

Mmmm ...

... and no doubt this incident occurred just before the start of a 'long weekend' (with no work programmed) that all the base engineers were looking forward to spending with their families ... :{

Did the car sneak into an empty parking spot after the pilot cleared the area and was sliding in?

Better for the fin to bend or break rather than scrap the horizontal stabilizer or tail boom and hardware inside it.

Hello, Direct Line? My policy does cover me for windscreen damage however caused, doesn't it?

The more I think about it - if it was your job to push a small plank through a car windscreen like that it would take some doing. For example do you think that standing on it would pop it? Likely not.

So that is, say, 70+ kg at a fair old arm from the CG. I am guessing that this would be a similar order of magnitude upset to longitudinal moment as the scenarios you read about where the TR and TRGB depart a ship. So my question is - how would you not notice? Surely you would be needing a lot of aft cyclic.

I assume the vibrating pointy bit meant that the forces required were lower, but again, this is a laminated windscreen.

Thoughts? :8

Which came first, the car or the copter. From the position of the bottom fin and the hole it looks as if the helicopter landed on top ,rather than the car driving into it.

car was there first by the looks of it as there is a crease in the cars roof where the initial contact took place.
if i was a betting man i'd have put the odds on the car doing more damage to the finlets. i'm surprised.

The report above states that the helicopter landed and overlooked the Opel.
The Crew did not notice anything until their got out of their a/c!
Therefore the car was already parked.

From what I have heard the ADAC pay their pilots "Peanuts".

Still interested in thoughts re: not feeling this was happening at the time. (See my previous post). :hmm:

They'd have noticed quick enough if it had a tail rotor!

Speaks volumes for the strength of construction and the enormous safety advantages of a fenestron.
