Throat Cancer

I was diagnosed with throat cancer in October of 2012. I completed radiation treatments with three rounds of chemo on January 10 of this year. After my follow up scans Doctors say I am NED( no evidence of disease). My question is, has anyone had head or neck cancer or knows someone who has? And how hard and long was it to get FAA 1st class back?

A friend of mine suffered from a throat cancer that involved chemo and a successfull surgical operation.
He regained his Class 1 (JAR, not FAA) after about a little more than a year ( I'm not sure of the exact duration)
