Any body out there know what the rules are regarding flying/owning experimental, kit built or even ex military (warbird) helicopters. Perhaps answer related to the following areas;
VH registration
Type Certificate
Who can fly with you
Maintenance
Insurance

For example can I get a OH58 and fly around on VH rego in and out of all airports with the family (crew)
Can I get insurance for Exec 162 ( not that I want to)
What can I do under the warbird category can I bring in a ex military Gazelle and use it like I do my R44?
Thanks in advance

Forget Google just ask someone else?

There are a shed load of 58's getting around in Australia along with UH-1's.

Australia and New Zealand adopted the "military surplus" Restricted Category thing a while ago and it is unique. A little different to the US interpretation.

I think both NAA's actually regret it but that is another story.

Aussie angle is here (http://www.casa.gov.au/wcmswr/_assets/main/rules/1998casr/021/021c06.pdf) AC 21.6(0)

Be very, very, careful and make sure your eyes are wide open. Nobody assumes liability for these aircraft.
