The usually well informed guys at ch-aviation are reporting that Darwin Airline will announce a UK base shortly:

Darwin Airline planning to add more aircraft, expand to Germany and UK - ch-aviation.ch (http://www.ch-aviation.ch/portal/news/18553-darwin-airline-planning-to-add-more-aircraft-expand-to-germany-and-uk)

Anyone in the know what airport we are looking at here?

(ch-aviation was also spot on with the German base which turned out to be LEJ - flights to AMS and CDG w/e Sep. 2, 2013).

Cambridge was mentioned somewhere on PPRuNe.

About as well known as Minoan at Oxford. Anyhow I thought Darwin was in Australia? This will confuse the locals.

The interesting part is that the new German base will have AF/KL code-share flights to CDG/AMS. Wonder if this will be part of the deal at CBG as well (probably either CDG or AMS in this case) as I doubt that Darwin would venture into the UK without a big boy holding hands. not to mention that KL has promised three additional UK destinations for 2013 after the MSE announcement, but so far has only revealed BHD as one of the three (IIRC).

EDIT: Today's press release does not mention code shares - not sure if it will remain at interlining level or if code-shares are to follow.

I'm pretty sure Darwin used to operate into LCY some years ago.

I believe so, and they did some ski charters out of Oxford a couple of winters ago.

They almost killed themselve few years back when acquiring Babboo and they haven't learned a thing.

These guys are expanding so big (relative small company) that they will be catched up I'm affraid...

Sorry for being sour / realistic...

SEN have been looking for an airline like this. I wouldn't be surprised if they launch SEN.

It is CBG - schedule now out. Starting September, the aircraft operates like this:

CBG -(X67) AMS - CBG - (X7) CDG - CBG - (1357) MXP / (26) GVA - CBG - (X7) AMS - CBG

Oneway flights range frpm 120 GBP to 400 GBP +, so not sure how this will work out.

Return flights to AMS, CDG, MXP, GVA now bookable for promotional offer of £99. Noticed up to 24 flights  a week to AMS, 12 to CDG, 8 to MXP, 6 to GVA. Any news on booking figures? Any locals tell how the advertising is going (if any eg Minoan) just booked CBG - MXP, looking forward to riding to 2000
