Gday, am planning a coastal trip over about a week from Sydney to Gold Coast early May.

Am thinking C152 or 172 hire.

Possible night stops:

1. Old Bar
2. The Lakes/Camden Haven
3. Port Macquarie
4. Southwest Rocks (stay Smokey Cape lighthouse)
5. Coffs
6. Yamba?
7. Evans Head.

Would appreciate any intel or tips on where to land/stay/fuel, ALA's, private strips, etc.

Thanks.

From around the Gold Coast 500 feet northbound after clearing atc, then track up the eastern sides of south, north stradbroke island then across to moretan island (plenty of sharks/whales/turtles) a loop of Moretan is good also with the tangalooma wrecks on the western side of the island, then a climb up to 2500 and a flight over to bribie island and turn left or right for sunny coast airport (very friendly) carboulture, caloundra or Redcliffe (even friendlier) :ok: that was always a great flight for the relatives and friends :)

Yamba, as lovely as it is, has a strip a fair way out of town....

Is there a strip available at South West Rocks? I know of a private one, but it's a fair old walk into town!
Beautiful place however.

Overnighted at Coffs just last week - a nice place. Hard stand parking at the Northern GA ramp (without tie downs) or on the grass fringes (with), 24 hr Carnet bowser, easy entry/exit to ramp (ASIC required), friendly Tower folks, short taxi ride into town and the Bowling club does great meals.

There's a plethora of motels to stay at, but one drawback is most are on the Highway and trucks are running through town all night (ask for a quiet room away from the road). Stayed at the Matador Motel just a 5 minute walk into town, very clean, value for money and the manager sure made us feel welcome Matador (http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Hotel_Review-g255059-d610199-Reviews-Matador_Motor_Inn-Coffs_Harbour_New_South_Wales.html):ok:
