I need to get my EC 135 Type rating which is proving somewhat difficult.

Bond have no availability until September/October.

PAS effectively no longer using the 135.

PremiAir/McAlpine unable to help unless I fly for the police or buy one (just shy of £3 million so far).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(fyi, twin rated with plenty of time)

:ugh:

I think that a 135 operates out of Newcastle, (not the PAS 135). Not sure if its used for training though.

Mmm,

An interesting problem.

Just to say that Premiair and Eurocopter UK (ex McAlpine) are not one and the same. So check both.

Another possible is Specair. They have just taken over a police contract for EC135 flying and have taken on a 135 rated TRE.

Just so you appreciate the problem, you need an outfit that both has a TRTO for the EC135 AND a helicopter. Many TRTOs effectively do not have an EC135. They use the customers.

You may be able to make something come together if you can find a privately operated EC135 that is prepared to lease its aircaft for training. There are 1 or 2 possibles. If you go to an EC135 TRTO WITH a hired aircraft most will do the rating for you. (Bond are likely to just be too busy with ratings AND IRs)

Presumably you are going to fly for someone - if so, won't they let you "borrow" the aircraft for a day or two?

Another thought - try talking to Aeromega at Stapleford or Cambridge. A great bunch who will help if they can. Their MD is now/will be shortly the Chief Pilot for a police consortium. However, he is an EC135 TRE and between the company and the consortium they may be able to help. Again though you having the aircraft would help.

Helicsa, Spain is also TRTO for the EC135. Homebase is Albacete.
And on Sabadell airport, Barcelona, there is a static simulator for the EC135, where you can do MCC and IR courses. The company is named Topfly.

Try Bond Air Services, they run a 135 sim at Staverton. I looked in to doing my 135 rating with them and they were exceptionally professional and helpful, unfortunately our client bought a different machine last minute... shame.

Try Eurocopter itself or HTM in Munich.

Try Copterline in Helsinki, Finland.
I'm pretty sure they have a TRTO and I know they have a couple of brand new 135s just sat in their hangar..

I'd get your Boss to pay for an overseas holiday destination that has a 135 somewhere! That way you're away from home, no distractions, get the 135 endorsement in minimal time, and get to lay on the beach of a night checking the that disgusting scenery of brown tans & great bods!! ;)

Now where would a 135 be located in these areas ... Monaco, Thailand, ...

I have CAA UK PPL H and would like to do a EC135 type Rating.

Any idea who could do the Type Rating ?, and will i need any other study / theory on top of my PPL to allow me to do this as it will be my first M/E type rating.

Hello ersa,

you will only need the theory ground course which is included in the type rating course, where you study EC135 helicopter and his flight manual. Then you need 8 hours of flight on EC135 + 1 hour check ride. That's all !!!

Good luck!!!

That's not true. There is an additional training requirement for the first ME type for PPL(H)s. CAPT can provide this course:

Caledonian Advanced Pilot Training - Multi-Engine (http://www.captonline.com/firstme.html)

Otherwise, Bond Air Services operate the largest number of EC135s in the UK. They would be my first port of call if I was looking for a type rating.

To give you an option and not leave you single sourced, Eurocopter UK at Kidlington can also do your 135 type rating. They know a little bit about EC135s too.

Or try Tim Cowin, 135 training captain at Starspeed. They might be able to help.

Looking for info/comments on where to get the best EC135 Initial Type Training. Requirement is for VFR ops only. Eurocopter at Donauworth or Grand Prarie? Flight Safety or ERA? or.....?

Apologies if this question has been previously asked.

Have you spoken to either Bond Air Services or Starspeed yet? Either will provide you with a very high standard of training.
