Hi all
For a while now I've had a dream that I could someday move to Australia to live and work. I'm now at a time in my life that I must do it or forget about it. I'm a Lear 40/45 Pilot based in the UK and in my late thirties. I'd be very interested to get your views on the practicalities of going ahead with this plan and if anybody who has done the same thing cares to share their experiences(good or bad) it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Wilga,

If you want to do it do it. Best to have tried than to have regrets.
Google should help with the process for Licence conversion and Companies etc.

Good luck,

The Don

The Visa should be quite easy just look what Skywest have done.

Try and find an operator who has the aircraft you are endorsed on already and apply to them. Very rarely in Australia (due to the size of the market) do we have people who endorsed on type.

The precedent is set by Skywest and others. Do your homework and you should be able to jump in front of the non rated yet probably more experienced Australian applications.

Radix I may be wrong but I was told that a commercial pilot has recently been re added to the list of jobs qualifying for skilled migration. As I said I could be wrong but would be worth a look.

Kiwivator, looks like you're right (at least in WA).
