Hi,
I'm a uni student working on a refuelling problem, specifically a 777-300.
I'm just wondering usually how much fuel a left in the tank after a long haul flight.
I was going to base my calculations on the tanks being completely empty but thought that might not be very realistic so just wondering if I can find a more realistic average value.
Thanks.

A difficult question to answer as most factors will change the value. In most countries it is regulated that a flight must carry enough fuel to cope with unusual situations such as having to divert to their alternate or the possibility of entering holds for extended periods enroute.

OM-A of company that may not be named here states that it's 777-300ER should have no less then 5000kg fuel (minimum diversion fuel = altn fuel + final fuel) when arriving to destination. So you can basically accept this value. Or play it up to 7-8T.
