Has anyone got any top tips dealing with Russia for permits? I've figured out the 'stans and had good comms with them by email, phone and AFTN but Russia isn't answering anything; AFTN, SITA, fax, email, even published phone numbers. I'm def using correct format and addresses as per AIP, but nothing - not an ack or a rejection.

Anyone?

Russia CAA these days have closed up shop on anything received from third parties that are non Russian agents. I assume you use the Form N format ?

I used to get Russia permits no problem direct with CAA but it's now almost impossible.

I can help you as we get permits very quickly and easily.

Can Help. Not for free of course if you need landing or overflight permission.
And they perfectly answering on AFTN, phonecalls and emails, if everything is correct in your application. + my fluent russian can help shall there be something extraordinary happening.

dc9-32 - yes to format, addresses (AFTN and SITA), plus email and fax all as per AIP. I've even asked if they could tell me what I'm doing wrong so I can correct - nothing at all. I did find out it's a PH there today which might explain some of the silence, but not to everything!

JDanielz & dc9-32 you both have PM. I imagine you can guess the subject!

Follow up question: why do Russian permits cost so much more than 'normal' permits? Lots of providers charge $50-100 a permit but Russia always seems to be 3x and more that price.

Ask yourself why is everything expensive in Russian aviation !!

If I quote for a Russia permit, my fee includes the agent fee whereas some people add that on when invoicing (hidden charges)....

You should get ovf permits easly, if you are patient enough and apply well before ( 3-4 days )

but landing, you must get first slots then you will apply for Russian CAA. Did you apply for slot first ? if not try this way, and be kind on phone as CAA is super busy or not willing to speak much in a language other than Russian.

if not at all, then give up and try local agents as streamline,rusaero,aerotrans :)
